Government of Orissa, represented by Chief Engineer, World Bank Projects , Orissa have entered into an Agreement with a consortium consisting of LEA Associates South Asia Pvt. Ltd (LASA), India in joint venture with LEA International Ltd. (LEA), Canada in association with Geo Infospace Pvt. Ltd(GIPL) , India as sub consultant for providing Technical assistance to establish an Asset Management System on the core State Road Network of Orissa Works Department. The contract which came into effect on dt. 05-05-2011 will be for a duration of 36 months with contract price of $ 712,500 and INR 136,917,450 (excluding service taxes). The Asset Management cell has also been constituted within the PMU for the purpose with one Executive Engineer ( Sri Gati Krushna Prasad) , two Assistant Engineers (Sri Amiya Ranjan Nayak and Sri Ramesh Chandra Panda) and one Junior Engineer ( Sri Narayan Behera ), The consultants have mobilized the Team Leader and several Specialists for in connection with the consultancy service .
ndian Roads Congress (IRC) and World Road Association (PIARC) will be jointly holding an International seminar on "Reducing Carbon Foot Prints in Road Construction" at New Delhi from 17th to 19th February 2011 in co-operation with Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Central/State Govt. Deptts., State PWDs and leading Public & Private Sector Organisations, Consultants, Contractors etc vide Letter No. IRC-19(2)/2011 Dt-23 August 2010.
The World Bank team led by Mr. Rajesh Rohatgi, Task Team Leader and consisting of Mr SriKumar Tadimalla, Mr. Swaminathan, Mr. Mohammad Hasan, Mrs. Neha Vyas,Ms Supriti Gupta, Mr. Krishan Srinivasan,Mr. Manvinder Mamak, Mr. Amrit inder Singh , Mr. Ernst Hunning , Mr Hubert Nove -Josserand & Mrs. Kumudini Choudhary visited to Orissa in connection with the Third Implementation Mission for Orissa State Road Project(OSRP). The team’s program included inspection of 3 year1 road package, PPP road (Sambalpur - Rourkela) and one probable year-2 road, meetings with PMU, Contractors, Consultants, Chief Engineer (World Bank Project), EIC-cum-Secretary, Works Department, and Chief Secretary. The team also attended the workshop on Quality and Vigilance on 20th in RDQP Laboratory ,Bhubaneswar.
One workshop on Quality and Vigilance was conducted on 20.01.11 in RDQP Laboratory ,Bhubaneswar . This workshop was jointly organized by the World Bank Projects(WBP), Orissa State Road Project (OSRP) and Research Development & Quality Control Promotion(RDQP),Orissa as part of the Governance Accountability Action Plan (GAAP), a component of the Orissa State Road Project(OSRP). The workshop was inaugurated by Er. S.K. Ray , EIC-cum-Secretary , Works Department and addressed by Mr. Rajesh Rohatgi, Task Team Leader of the World Bank team and Er S.Meher EIC (Civil), Orissa among others.
A World Bank team led by Mr. Rajesh Rohatgi, Senior Transport Specialist, Sustainable Development (South Asia), the World Bank, is scheduled to visit Orissa from 16th to 24th January 2011 for reviewing the progress of Orissa State Road Projects. The team consisting of Mr. Rajesh Rohatgi, Mr SriKumar Tadimalla, Mr. Swaminathan, Mr. Mohammad Hasan, Mrs. Neha Vyas,Supriti Gupta, Mr. Krishan Srinivasan,Mr. Manvinder Mamak, Mr. Amrit inder Sing , Mr. Ernst Hunning , Mr Hubert Nove -Josserand & Mrs. Kumudini Choudhary will conduct site visit to the three year-1 road corridors for reviewing the progress.The team will discuss with EIC -cum Secretary Works and attend the SLEC meeting .the Wrap up meeting is scheduled to be conducted on 24th Jan 2011.
A model Exhibition on Information, Education and Communication (I.E.C) Material of Road Safety Programme has been organized by CART, Nodal NGO, OSRP, Bhubaneswar on the occasion of 22nd NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY WEEK (1st to 7th January 2011). Er. Nalinikanta Pradhan, C.E, WBP inaugurated the Programme on 01.01.2011 at Mini Conference Hall, PMU, World Bank Project and suggested to extend it to all packages. The exhibition was visited and appreciated by Er. B. C. Tripathy, EE-II, Mr. P. K. Nanda Asst. Com. L.A., Er. M. R. Mishra, R.E. P-02, Er.Sukadev Meher, E.I.C (Civil), Er.P.K.Mohapatra, Superintending Engineer (Civil), Mr. A. K. Dey, SDS, WBP and all others Official of WBP and Works Department. Mr . Mohammad Hasan, Sr. Social Development Specialist, the World Bank visited the three year-1 project corridors of Orissa State Road Project from 3rd Jan to 6th Jan 2011 for reviewing the progress of Rehabilation & Re-settlement work. While Appreciating the efforts of PMU for R & R , Particularly in P01, and P02 , Mr Hasan advised to put UID No with OSRP reference on the relocated kiosks and structures . A meeting was held with PAPs at Basantia village (P02) which was attended by EE PMU , Nodal Officer, Team Leader , NGOs (CART & VARRSA).
The World AIDS Day was observed on 1st Dec’10 in the 3 year one road corridors of OSRP. The Implementing NGO, Contractor (JV) and Resident Engineer’s team in each Package participated in the functions. The Interim Review Mission of the World Bank led by Mr. Rajesh Rohtagi, Task Team Leader visited Orissa on 19-20 November 2010. The Team included Mr. Rajesh Rohatgi, Mr SriKumar Tadimalla, Mr. Swaminathan and Mr. Mohammad Hasan.Its Governance Specialist Mr. Krishnan visited on 24-25 November, 2010. The Interim Mission conducted site visits to the three year-1 road packages, inspected the works, campsite and site laboratories, interacted with the team led by Resident Engineer for interim arrangement of supervision. The World Bank team was apprised of the manpower mobilization for supervision of works. The World Bank team conducted detailed review as the implementation of the Project with Chief Engineer (World Bank Project) and his team and appreciated the efforts in LA, R&R and full scale mobilization for supervision. The World Bank team desired that the contractors (Joint Ventures) should promptly respond in terms of mobilization of their resources to expedite the progress as the real construction season has started. The World Bank team met and discussed with EIC-cum-Secretary to Govt. , Works Department. Mr. Krishanan Srinivasan, Governance Specialist of the World Bank inspected the existing laboratory facilities in RD & QP and had detailed discussions with Chief Engineer, RD & QP, Chief Engineer(World Bank Projects), Addl. Secretary and finally with the EIC-cum-Secretary on GAAP related subjects. It was proposed to hold the first workshop on “Quality and Vigilance-Roles and Activities “ in the 3rd week of January,2011.
The Consultancy Contract Of M/s SMEC International Pty. Ltd. in association with M/s SMEC(India) Pvt. Ltd. and M/s CMEC Consulting Engineers(Agreement No. 1 of 2008/09) for construction supervision of widening and improving the existing carriageway in 3 Year-1 road packages (PO1,PO2,PO3) of OSRP was terminated by Governement (Vide Letter No. 11101 Dtd. 03 Aug 2010) of the contract after concurrence by World Bank.
